Pete Johnson the Cincinnati Bengals Fullback was dealt in a trade to the San Diego Chargers for Running back James Brooks. At the time fans were not pleased with the trade, but in time the Bengals fans would come to embrace James Brooks. With the Bengals former backup Quarterback Sam Wyche now running the show as the Bengals head Coach, the Bengals began to build their franchise and move toward a brighter future by drafting Quarterback Boomer Esiason out of University of Maryland. Boomer Esiason would go on to throw for over 3000 yards in a season 6 times during his Bengals career with his highest being 3959 yards in passing in 1986.
