Cincinnati Football History: 1933 & 1934

Cincinnati_Reds_1933_Edited_Football_ProgramThe first known professional Cincinnati football team was the Cincinnati Reds football team of the National Football League.  The team was established on July 8th, 1933.  The Reds stay in the league did not last long.  The team played the entire 10 game 1933 season, but only played 8 games of the 1934 season.

Eventually the Cincinnati Reds football team was kicked out of the league for failing to pay league dues.   During their brief stay in the league, the Cincinnati Reds football team did not fare well, and to this day still hold the distinction of having two of the lowest scoring season of any team in NFL history.

Amazing as it may sound, the Cincinnati Reds football team were only able to score 38 points in the 10 games they played in the 1933 season.  They averaged only 3.3 offensive points a game.  This ties the 1942 Detroit Lions for the second worst offensive team in NFL history.  In 1934 in the eight games the Cincinnati Reds football team played, they only scored 10 points.  This gave them a 1.25 points per game average.  The franchise did not score a point in 12 of it 18 games total.

Despite their horrible offensive performance, the Cincinnati Reds football team finished fourth in the Western Division in 1933, with a record of three wins, six losses, and one tie. The team could not overcome their serious lack of offense in 1924 and the team finished the 1934 season placing sixth in the Western Division, with zero wins, eight losses, and zero ties.
