Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Terrell Owens(notes) waves to the crowd as he crosses the field to get dressed for NFL football practice, Thursday, July 29, 2010, in Georgetown, Ky.

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - Terrell Owens arrived fashionably late, received a white jersey with his favourite number, and got a smattering of applause for doing even the simplest thing.

  • Bengals Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

The Bengals flirted with Terrell Owens in March, but it took four months to finally decide to add him to the offensive mix.

With Owens reportedly agreeing to a one-year deal, he's expected to line up opposite Chad Ochocinco, with Antonio Bryant sliding inside as the third receiver.

The Bengals chose to sign Bryant instead of Owens earlier in the offseason largely because of Owens' age (36 years old), but there has been some concern about the ability of Bryant's balky knee holding up throughout the season.

Bringing in Owens means there will be a fierce battle for roster spots if everyone stays healthy. The Bengals signed Matt Jones, the former Jaguar, and drafted Jordan Shipley and Dez Briscoe in April.
