Bengals Missing Key Parts Still
Now with a successful season behind them the Cincinnati Bengals look to the off season to make their team better. It has been widely discussed exactly what the Bengals will need to make this happen in the 2010 NfL draft in April. Various opinions have been voiced, but there are a few key areas that seem to keep coming up when it comes to making the Bengals a better team.
Offense seems to be the side of the ball that the team needs to address the most, and there are a few positions that seem to keep coming up on a regular basis Wide Receiver and Tight End seem to constantly be on the top of a lot peoples list.
With the loss of Chris Henry initially through his injury and then sadly though his death this past season, the Bengals were immediately impacted. Defenses figured out very quickly that the Bengals lacked a deep threat and they were able to take advantage defensively by playing up on Cincinnati Bengals Receivers. This makes it tougher for the offense to move the ball. It makes it tougher to run and it makes it even tougher for the Receivers to get separation. A speedy Wide receiver would do the Bengals well.
Tight End has been a need for the Bengals offense for some time. The Bengals lots two decent tight ends to injury before the 2009 season even got started. With this being said, the Bengals need to find a long term solution at Tight End. A good Tight End will allow them to open the field up and it will allow their Wide Receivers more room to move. It is much easier to cover two good Wide Receivers than it is to cover two good Receivers and a good Tight End. Add a third Wide Receiver that is a deep threat, and you will see the Bengals offense immediately open up. This in turn will allow Cedric Benson and company to rush even better than they did this past season.
The Cincinnati Bengals did make the playoff in the 2009 season, but they still need a few key fixes to make it deeper into the playoffs.
