Bengals trying to avoid disaster; Browns cruising E-mail
Written by Administrator

Remember the Cincinnati Bengals' offense was supposed to be their strength?

Last week, quarterback Carson Palmer threw four interceptions in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Now 3-7 with the potential for a disaster season, the Bengals host the Tennessee Titans today hoping to gain some traction before next week's matchup with the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

Last week, fans hit the escalators while the Bengals were down just one score. Today, the defense hopes to keep Titans QB Vince Young in check long enough to convince fans to stay in their seats.

The Bengals could also help the Browns, who enter today's home game against Houston tied with Tennessee for the second AFC wild-card spot at 6-4. One of the NFL's most improved teams, the Browns have won four straight at home behind the efficient passing of quarterback Derek Anderson and the NFL's third-best scoring offense.

Cleveland doesn't want the game to come down to a referee's decision on a Phil Dawson field goal (which it did last week), even if it does come out in the Browns' favor. Instead, fans would rather have Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow Jr. continue their clean routes and soft hands for Anderson's on-target passes.

The Browns have decided to wear throwback jerseys this afternoon in Cleveland Stadium, but they're still working to forget their recent past and again be a team that can dream of titles.
