Ben-Gal Alumni Blog is Big Success! In June of 2006, a simple dinner and conversation between former Ben-Gal Cheerleaders turned into an extraordinary outlet and a great Bengals Fan website. The Ben-Gal Cheerleaders have always been a big part of the Cincinnati Bengal tradition and Amy Campbell knows this first hand. Being a former Ben-Gal herself, Amy and her Ben-Gal friends wanted to find a way to connect with all of the former Ben-Gals to bring them together and give them a place to stay connected to each other. So, Amy Campbell, Michelle Warner, Tara Miller and Hazel Denight decided to start a Ben-Gal Cheerleader information blog http://www.bengalcheeralumni.blogspot.com/, and the Ben-Gal Cheerleader Alumni Blog was born! The site is dedicated to former Ben-Gal Cheerleaders. Amy volunteers as the main Editor and Administrator for the blog while her counterparts provide her with the updates and information for the blog. The blog has come a long way and is growing in the number of former Ben-Gals that have joined. The blog is getting more and more regular readers each month as well.
One of the goals of the site is to continue growing the number of former Ben-Gal Cheerleaders who have joined. Currently the site is just under 100 members. The creators of the site would like to start doing Ben-Gal Alumni events with the goal of becoming the official Ben-Gal Alumni Association and to be officially acknowledged by the Bengals. The current reader base is a combination of former Ben-Gal cheerleaders, friends and family of former Ben-Gals, and Bengals Fans in general. New readers are welcome to visit the site to get the latest updates on former Ben-Gal cheerleaders. As I was going through the site, I realized that the blog definitely has a feel to it like no other Bengals site. You get the feeling that the Ben-Gal Alums are a close knit group, like a sisterhood. It is a unique bond that they are proud of and it shows on the site. Co-Creator, Amy Campbell, said “the site gives them a creative outlet for staying connected and sharing great memories.” It also gives them a creative outlet for meeting a lot of great people. “I want people to know that there is lot of depth to these women. They are successful beyond having the title of Ben-Gal Cheerleader”. The site continues to grow and is gaining more and more readers every day. The blog has some interesting facts, as well. The Ben-Gal Alumni Members span four decades, with some going all the way back to the 1975 season. The Ben-Gal Alumni Member farthest away from Cincinnati currently lives in Hawaii. The members include two legacies - there is a mother who was a Ben-Gal Cheerleader in the 80’s and then her two daughters went on to cheer for the Ben-Gals, as well. Additionally, some of the Ben-Gal Alumni Members have gone on to cheer for other NFL teams. Ms. Campbell would like to invite anyone who wants to get updates, see photos, and find out more about the former Ben-Gals to browse the site. She would also like to encourage anyone who is a former Ben-Gal or knows a former Ben-Gal to pass along information on the site. The creators of the site would like to keep growing the membership and word of mouth seems to be a very effective way to do this. I think Amy’s closing thoughts on this unique group of women summed up the site well. “Just because you are off the field, it does not mean the friendships are over,” said Campbell. We recommend that people check out the site http://www.bengalcheeralumni.blogspot.com/. I think Bengals Fans will enjoy it! Growlzone.com Cincinnati Bengals News
