{mosimage} Say what you want, but Chad Johnson is a publicity addict. He should just go ahead and stand up, state his name and admit to being addicted to needing publicity. After officially changing his surname this week to Ocho Cinco in an attempt to sell more jerseys and gain the attention for some reason he so desperately needs, Johnson has placed a bull’s eye squarely on his back with Cincinnati Bengals fans.
It is a testament to the respect teammates have for Carson Palmer that they had his back after he threw four interceptions in Cincinnati's 35-27 loss yesterday to Arizona. "You can't throw the blame on Carson," tight end Reggie Kelly said. "We all had a hand in this loss. We all made a lot of mistakes, whether dropped balls or penalties or whatever. You can't put the blame on No. 9. He's done a great job of keeping us in every game this year. As long as he continues to play the way he plays, I'm right behind him."
Defensive tackle John Thornton mentioned Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning, who threw six interceptions last week. "He (Palmer) just had a tough game," Thornton said. "He's allowed to do that. He's a great player, but it happens to everybody."
Nothing new for Dorsey; DeDe Dorsey became the first Bengals player to block a punt and return it for a touchdown since Barney Bussey did it against Detroit in 1989. Dorsey beat Marcel Shipp off the edge. "He came out to block me, and I was able to be quicker than him and get underneath him. If you could see my eyes on film, they were probably about this big," Dorsey said, making an "O" with his hands. "I saw the ball laying there, and I thought there's no way I'm going to get to the ball before anyone else does. And then I got it and I was like there's no way I'm going to get to the end zone." Dorsey tried to do a Lambeau Leap but didn't quite make it. Call it the Lindenwood Leap, after the NAIA school Dorsey attended. "I actually blocked about nine punts in college," he said. "I took a couple back (for touchdowns)."
Whitworth peeved: Bengals left guard Andrew Whitworth was called for two of four Bengals holding penalties. Afterward, he was upset at back judge Tony Steratore, who threw both flags, and not just because of the calls. "He was saying some things I didn't think were really appropriate for a ref to be saying," Whitworth said. "He was calling me lousy and doing stuff like that. And he's making calls from a back position. I don't know whether he's right or wrong, but I know he can't make a call from way back there when he can't even see it." Right guard Bobbie Williams and center Eric Ghiaciuc had the other holding calls.
Houshmandzadeh hurt: Bengals receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh left the game with a hip injury in the fourth quarter. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis didn't give any details, and Houshmandzadeh was unsure of the severity. "I was running and got hit," he said. "I just felt a pain. I've got six, seven days, and hopefully I'll be all right." Houshmandzadeh caught his 11th touchdown pass of the season with a 19-yarder to open the scoring. Also, receiver Glenn Holt said he suffered a mild concussion when he hit his head on the turf after a kickoff return.
