Bengals receiver Chad Johnson practiced yesterday after he was carried off the field with a neck injury Sunday. Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Johnson is likely to play Sunday, a week after he was taken off the field on a gurney because of a neck injury. Johnson participated fully in practice yesterday for the first time this week. He was listed as probable on the injury report. Johnson practiced some Wednesday and did not practice Thursday. The past few weeks, he has tended to skip Thursday practices to rest a tender ankle. Johnson was hurt in a collision with two Buffalo Bills defenders. He lay on the field for 10 minutes but never lost consciousness and could move his legs. Tests revealed no significant injury beyond a neck strain.
Johnson has played in 95 straight games. He is second in the NFL behind Randy Moss in receiving yards with 779. His return is significant because it would mark the first time he, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Chris Henry will play in the same game this season. Henry is coming off an eight-game league-imposed suspension. Tight end Reggie Kelly (knee), defensive tackle John Thornton (neck), linebacker Anthony Schlegel (back) and safety Herena-Daze Jones (knee) did not practice and are listed as doubtful.
