The Bengals players have continued to talk about making a run to still make the playoffs this season.  Some would say this is a long shot; others would just call it complete insanity after seeing how the team has played for most of this season.  Regardless of what Bengals fans think, the Bengals as a team are forced to lay their cards down and play what may be their final hand against the Buffalo Bills today in Buffalo.

Is it possible for them to go on a run and make the playoffs, absolutely!  It would not be the first and only run to the playoffs of its kind in NFL history.  As a matter of fact, several teams have done it from even farther behind the eight ball than the Bengals are right now.

Is it probable?  Unfortunately for Bengals fans the stats don’t lie.  We have all heard it time and time again, Defense wins Super Bowls, and the Bengals Defense does not look like it could guard the gates at the Super Bowl much less opposing players. 

The only way the Bengals make a run to the playoffs is to start in Buffalo today!  If thy cnnot beat the Bills then I think it is safe to say that the 2007 Bengals are not an underperforming team, they are a bad team! 

The keys to winning the game today on paper are simple.  The Defense must contain the bills to fewer than 25 on Gro points.  Now I know 25 points is a lot of points, but for the Bengals Defense it is a good day.  Marvin Lewis must stay focused and stay away from any of the bad decisions that add up at the end of the game.  The players have to play together and stick to the doing their own job.  They have to be professionals do their job and take all the over reacting when things don’t go their way out of the mix.

We all want the Bengals to go on a serious run and show us as fans who the team really is, but as a Bengals fan we have all been here before.  We start to believe and then an average team like Buffalo spanks the Bengals and shows us why it was never meant to be.  The story of Cincinnati Bengals football is a well documented one for Bengals fans. 

With that being said, there is hope.  The Bengals still could make the playoffs.  Who knows, maybe they will start that run today in Buffalo.
