A serious, focused Chad Johnson - ah, whatever his name is - showed up to work "super extra focused" in an effort to make up for his offseason antics:

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Reggie McNeal bounced back with a strong Monday morning practice after dropping three passes in Saturday's Black-Orange Mock Game at Georgetown College's Toyota Stadium.

"I know I had a bad day Saturday, but that's all in learning," McNeal said. "I'm going to continue to get better every day. and try not to drop anything."  McNeal caught about 10 passes in the workout from 9-11 a.m. Many were tough catches over the middle and near the sidelines."That's a good thing about a quality player," wide receivers coach Mike Sheppard said. "He'll take something like that and turn it around into a motivation to do better the next time."

Bengals sign tailback

The Bengals signed rookie tailback Curtis Brown, a non-drafted college free agent from BYU, who was recently released by the Oakland Raiders.  Brown wasted no time showing off his fresh legs with a couple of nice runs.
"I'm just honored to be here, honored that the coaching staff has faith to bring me in," Brown said. "I'm going to be in the playbook non-stop."

Quick hitters

• Fullback Stan White got rid of the boot on his left ankle. He's walking without pain and looking forward to practicing again.
"To have a shot at making the team, I need to get back on the field," White said.

• Skyler Green will return punts against the Lions in Detroit on Thursday night.
"I'm looking forward to Skyler Green getting an opportunity," head coach Marvin Lewis said. "That was one of the attractions of having him come here (off waivers in December) from Dallas."

• A fan handed wide receiver Chad Johnson a goodie bag from J. Alexander's. What was the entree inside? "Steak," Johnson said.
