With Bengals training camp right around the corner, I think Bengals fans have a little extra jump in their step as of late. Yes, last year was hard for Bengals fans. As a matter of fact it was not just hard at certain points, it was even horrible: The arrest, the Chargers comeback, and missing the playoffs. These are only a few of the bad memories from the 2006 season.
Enough of those memories, this years team has a chance to put all of that to rest. The season will defiantly start out with a bang on national TV for Monday Night Football against the Ravens.
As I look ahead, I am certain that one game especially the first game of the season will not make or break a teams season, but for the Bengals a win at home on national TV to start the 2007 season could really jump start the year. I don’t think it is a stretch to say that the Titans have a very strong chance of winning the division. Additionally, I think the Bengals need a good start after last year. That’s why the Monday night really could be important for the Bengal to win. National TV exposure never hurt anyone. Beating a top rival in your division is certainly not a bad thing either and winning the first game of the long season defiantly sets the right course.
Yes, I know we our months away from Monday Night Football, but to quote Hank Williams Jr “Are you ready for some football!!!” I hope the answer is yes for the Bengals that first game. This preseason will be a big one this year. The Coaches promised change and more discipline. There are a lot of key position match ups. The Bengals will have to be ready if they want to beat the Ravens. They are no push over.
I know the fans are already to go. The stadium will be rocking. I have no doubts. Let’s hope our team is ready because it all starts in less than 30 days.
