Antonio Chatman is coming off his best game as a Bengal, and he'd like a lot more like it to follow. The sixth-year pro and University of Cincinnati product had six receptions for 70 yards and returned two punts for 31 yards in the overtime loss to the New York Giants.

Eric Steinbach could play first base. Big guy. Probably scalds the ball. Chris Henry would look good in the outfield.

Johnathan Joseph seems like a middle infielder, maybe a No. 2 hitter. But is he selfless enough to hit behind the runner?

There are now enough arrested Bengals to fill out a baseball lineup, and when you go 8-8 and miss the playoffs, that's not the best news for head coach Marvin Lewis.

Thought the coach was going to clean up this mess. Thought he was as embarrassed as everybody else by his players' behavior.

If what's alleged is true, how dumb is Joseph, though? You would think that being anywhere in the vicinity of marijuana would be out of the question after eight of your teammates had been brought up on charges the past nine months.

Maybe Joseph napped through Lewis' lecture on personal responsibility.

No, the Browns don't win, but their players for the most part avoid the booking desk. General Manager Phil Savage thinks religious players have longer careers, so he drafts accordingly. The team isn't good, but at least head coach Romeo Crennel can rest at night after that grueling — he actually used the word "tiring" — offensive coordinator search without being awakened.

Do the Bengals need to rethink their player acquisition strategy? Or are the players going astray only after they get here? Seems it's a combination.

This much is clear: One or two arrests is a problem, nine's a batting order.

Eventually, somebody's going to have to answer for this. Miss the playoffs again and, assuming Mike Brown is paying attention, it might be Lewis.
