The Bengals are holding firm on their desire not to renegotiate the lease at Paul Brown Stadium. The Bengals have chosen to take their tough stance stance despite an outcry from the county and its leaders who say the lease is simply not a good deal for the taxpayers and does not give the city the room it needs to finish developing the riverfront the ay it needs to be done. The county and the Bengals have had other recent disputes ovre the replacement of the artificial turf and who should pay for the replacement of the turf at the filed. The Bengals recently invoked a clause in the lease and have asked Hamilton County to reimburse the team $900,000. They cliam the lease requires the county to do so. The current lease gives the Bengals the right to object or veto crtitical riverfron planning details like building heights. This is putting a major obstacle in the way of the plans for a combination of condos and restaurants that are being proposed along the riverfront. Todd Portune the Hamilton County Commission President is calling on the team to create a new lease. Troy Blackburn the Bengals Vice President said the lease has been fair to everyone.
