Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson spent most of the third quarter Monday night in the locker room with a needle stuck in his arm. He needed intravenous fluid because of dehydration. "Normally he gets them at halftime," head coach Marvin Lewis said. "They chose not to give him an IV at halftime this time. We need to make sure we do that when the timing is better." Lewis claims Johnson's hyperactivity is the cause of dehydration, not poor eating habits. Johnson said his favorite restaurant is McDonald's.
"Chad eats right," Lewis said. "He's met with the dietician enough. He knows what to eat. He's been given a checklist of what to eat, something he can relate to. The McDonald's thing is just something to get (the media) to think about. He goes to McDonald's and gets hotcakes. He likes pancakes. He goes and gets McDonald's breakfast. Instead of having pancakes here, he has pancakes on his way here. It's not a big deal. "He's been taken to all the testing and it comes back that he just needs to hydrate. He's a guy who just needs to be replenished all the time. We're constantly with him to do that. It's part of him. It comes from talking too much. He hyperventilates himself, and then he dries out, and he needs an IV. That's what happens." Let it snow Denver was bludgeoned with 14 inches of snow on Wednesday and was due to get more overnight. Luckily for the Broncos, they got to practice in a bubble near their training facility. "Honestly, we got in here early this morning and the weather wasn't too bad except going over to that bubble," Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan said. "It has been pretty nice (inside) — 72 degrees. We had a good practice. We were in the bubble, and we got a lot of things done. "Thank God for that bubble. I heard we're going to get a lot (more) snow, so it might be tough getting to work in the morning. But I'm sure we will deal with it." Sky's the limit Bengals wide receiver Skyler Green, acquired off waivers from the Cowboys last week, will attempt to wrestle the punt return job away from Keiwan Ratliff. Green said the Cowboys moved him to tailback before releasing him. Will he play running back here? "No," wide receivers coach Hue Jackson said. "He's a receiver. I just know he's with us, and we're glad to have him. We're glad to have those set of legs, and we'll see how it goes." Injury report Center Rich Braham (left knee) is doubtful, while left offensive tackle Levi Jones (left knee) and linebacker Andre Frazier (groin) are questionable. Jones dressed against Indianapolis, but didn't play. Jones has missed nine straight games. "When you suit up, you're back," Lewis said. "I'll make the decision on what we're doing come Sunday. We'll see how practice week goes for (Jones) and how he continues to respond getting back in the mix of pushing on the big people." Cutler's hometown Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler was born and raised in Santa Claus, Ind. Is that a bad omen for the Bengals on Christmas Eve? "To be determined," Lewis said.
