We had a big win in Pittsburgh this past week. Every victory is a big one, and this one was no exception. Perhaps it was even slightly bigger than some others.
I don?t like to admit that. It?s important to stay level headed about the season and play all 16 regular season games with the same intensity. It?s also hard not to know that winning a division game on the road is an important step toward our goal this season.
On offense, they like to control the line of scrimmage and run the ball. On defense, they want to be physical, stop the run, and play an aggressive style of defense.
The reason they didn?t have an advantage was that we play the same way. We play aggressively and physically. The key for us is avoiding any letdowns. I preach this all the time. We cannot take any opponent lightly and we have to prepare for each game the same way.
It?s too early in the season to worry about anything other than our next game and how to best prepare for that opponent. So far, I am happy with our start to the season. It?s just that though – a start.
I want to see us play the same way every week. We have a tough schedule and we play a lot of tough teams the rest of the way. That list also includes another round with the Steelers later in the year. There is no way to feel comfortable. We have done our jobs so far, but we have to keep our edge and be prepared every week. I have to admit, right now I am feeling pretty good.
