Matchup on Sept. 10 will kick off Cincinnati's 40th Anniversary season.
The Cincinnati Bengals open the 2007 season under the Monday night lights. They'll face the Baltimore Ravens at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at Paul Brown Stadium — the first game of ESPN's Monday Night Football doubleheader. The game marks the first nationally televised season opener in Bengals history, kicking off the club's 40th anniversary season. "It's exciting to know we'll be opening the season at home on Monday Night Football," Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said. "It's a great opportunity for our team, for our fans and for the city. We know the atmosphere is going to be intense." The announcement came at the NFL Annual Meeting in Phoenix, where the league released the national broadcast schedule for the season's opening weekend. The full 2007 NFL schedule is due to be announced next week. Dayton Daily News |

Former Pittsburgh Steelers standout and current Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter was cited by Las Vegas police for misdemeanor battery after he allegedly punched another NFL player in the face Sunday night, according to a published report. Porter The Las Vegas Review Journal is reporting that Porter was cited for an alleged fight he had with Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Levi Jones. "Apparently these two have a history with each other, a history of trash talking on the field," Las Vegas police Lt. Kevin McMahill told the paper. Jones was treated by medical personnel at the scene, McMahill said. Porter recently signed a five-year, $32 million deal with the Dolphins after being released by the Steelers. In his eight-year career, Porter has 60 sacks and 10 interceptions. ESPN http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2804097 |

In March 2006, the linebacker position was the strongest and deepest on the Cincinnati Bengals ' defense. Of their three starters, two (David Pollack and Brian Simmons) were first-round selections, while the other (Odell Thurman) was a runner-up for defensive rookie of the year in 2004. Only a year later, what was once the pride of the defense has arguably become the weakest link on the entire team. What a difference a year makes. |

{mosimage}The Bengals have yet to do anything in the free agent market. This seems to be upsetting a lot of the fans. The team has lost four major players including a future All Pro Guard in Eric Steinbach. Kelly Washington has now left the team as well. He has just signed up to play with the Patriots this season. Bengals fans are feeling the pain once again of seeing little activity from the Bengals. With this being said, I think it is only fair that fans remember the team did lock up some of its key players for a long time to come. The question is did they choose the right players to sign to long term deals? In the process of signing Levy Jones and Willie Anderson, they allowed Eric Steinbach to get away. Not only did he get away, he went to Cleveland where the Bengals will be playing against him twice every season. |

There was never enough wiggle room in the Cincinnati Bengals lineup for wide receiver Kelley Washington. Buried behind Chad Johnson, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Chris Henry, Washington went searching for a team that could give him more playing time. He found the New England Patriots. Washington decided to take his "Squirrel" dance to the East Coast on Monday when he signed a one-year contract with the Patriots. |
