Former Pittsburgh Steelers standout and current Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter was cited by Las Vegas police for misdemeanor battery after he allegedly punched another NFL player in the face Sunday night, according to a published report. Porter The Las Vegas Review Journal is reporting that Porter was cited for an alleged fight he had with Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Levi Jones. "Apparently these two have a history with each other, a history of trash talking on the field," Las Vegas police Lt. Kevin McMahill told the paper. Jones was treated by medical personnel at the scene, McMahill said. Porter recently signed a five-year, $32 million deal with the Dolphins after being released by the Steelers. In his eight-year career, Porter has 60 sacks and 10 interceptions. ESPN http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2804097 |

In March 2006, the linebacker position was the strongest and deepest on the Cincinnati Bengals ' defense. Of their three starters, two (David Pollack and Brian Simmons) were first-round selections, while the other (Odell Thurman) was a runner-up for defensive rookie of the year in 2004. Only a year later, what was once the pride of the defense has arguably become the weakest link on the entire team. What a difference a year makes. |

{mosimage}The Bengals have yet to do anything in the free agent market. This seems to be upsetting a lot of the fans. The team has lost four major players including a future All Pro Guard in Eric Steinbach. Kelly Washington has now left the team as well. He has just signed up to play with the Patriots this season. Bengals fans are feeling the pain once again of seeing little activity from the Bengals. With this being said, I think it is only fair that fans remember the team did lock up some of its key players for a long time to come. The question is did they choose the right players to sign to long term deals? In the process of signing Levy Jones and Willie Anderson, they allowed Eric Steinbach to get away. Not only did he get away, he went to Cleveland where the Bengals will be playing against him twice every season. |

There was never enough wiggle room in the Cincinnati Bengals lineup for wide receiver Kelley Washington. Buried behind Chad Johnson, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Chris Henry, Washington went searching for a team that could give him more playing time. He found the New England Patriots. Washington decided to take his "Squirrel" dance to the East Coast on Monday when he signed a one-year contract with the Patriots. |

After one week of the NFL's free agency period, this much is clear: The Cincinnati Bengals are getting raided by the Cleveland Browns. The Browns were more like Pirates on Friday when they signed Bengals restricted free agent defensive tackle Shaun Smith to a four-year offer sheet believed to be worth about $10 million. The Bengals have a week to match Cleveland's offer. If they decline, the Bengals will lose Smith and not receive any compensation in return because Smith entered the NFL as a nondrafted college free agent. The move — confirmed by Smith's agent, New York-based Jonathan Feinsod — came a week after the Browns signed Bengals unrestricted free-agent left guard Eric Steinbach to a seven-year, $49.5 million contract. |

Unless you're a Colts or Bears fan, you can only wish your NFL team was in the Super Bowl. This brings us to the Bengals. Marvin Lewis is a great football coach, a leader of men who would be successful anywhere. Lewis can't help that nine players have been arrested in 12 incidents in the past 14 months. |
