Jim Breech former Bengals kicker remembers the Oilers

Boy, what a let down. First game of the year, everyone fired up for that first win. Then the game started. Has anyone seen the Bengals offense yet?

What a disappointing start to the season. This is not an easy schedule, and I thought this would be one of the wins. Since the Bengals have had the Ravens number the last few years.  I bet you thought it was going to be a win also.

John Breech picks the NFL winners for week two
Written by John Breech

Titans at Bengals: I’ve complained enough about the Bengals this week. Carson Palmer got outdueled by Ocho Flacco, our offense looked like they were running a game plan devised by first graders and our defense’s unbelievable performance was completely overlooked. I’ll take the Titans 20-14, but only because I’m bitter.

Colts at Vikings: I’ve already said Peyton Manning won’t be game ready until October, this means he goes one for September as far as victories go. Vikings 27-20.

Week One NFL Power Rankings and Playoff Picks

Alright Bengals fans, here are my three Bengals related thoughts following week one, first and foremost; if I continue to be a Bengals fan, I’m going to be impotent, bald and homeless by week five. Secondly, my friend Mel came up to me Sunday morning before the game and said “John, stop worrying, there is no way the Bengals can lose, ESPN says that no team has ever won their opening game with a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback starting at the same time, so Baltimore can’t win.” On a side note, Mel’s goal in life is to tell me a statistic that I’ve never heard before, even if it’s as stupid as the one above.  Anyway, I called my bookie 30 seconds later, because if I’ve learned one thing in life, it’s that if ESPN, Vegas and Mel all think the Bengals are going to win, not only are they not going to win, but they’re going to lose so embarrassingly bad that I’ll have to take some sort of Advil, valium, heroin combination after the game.

Bengals Start Season With A Loss

The Bengals offense was non existent today in Baltimore.  The line was not able to protect Carson Palmer, and Palmer looked off.  Baltimore never gave Palmer the chance to really get set before he threw.  The rust had to be shaken off of the Bengals Receivers as TJ and Chad were double teamed for most of the game.  It was evident that the lack of time on the filed and the lack of reps between TJ, Chad, and Carson hurt the team.

The defense held the Ravens to 17 points, but the game actually ended with the Ravens having the ball inside the Bengals ten yard line when time ran out.  The Bengals defense looked alright, but once again failed miserably at the end of the game when they needed to hold the Ravens to get the ball back.  The Bengals have their home opener next week against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Cincinnati.
