What you need to know about today's Bengals-Steelers game at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati: Overview: The Bengals will try to accomplish something they haven't done since 2001 — beat Pittsburgh in Cincinnati. The Steelers, meanwhile, are trying to avoid their first two-game losing streak of the season. They've played 14 straight games without back-to-back losses. Pittsburgh has won six straight games in Cincinnati, a streak the Bengals desperately want to stop. Scouting the Bengals: Look for quarterback Carson Palmer to throw on early downs to loosen up the Steelers' defense, which is geared to stop the run on first and second down. The Bengals, however, must establish the run with tailback Kenny Watson, whose performance against the Jets (31 carries, 130 yards, 3 touchdowns) earned him the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week award. If the Bengals become a one-dimensional passing team, they'll be in trouble against the blitzing Steelers. |

The Bengals can't stop Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, but they hope to contain him. What will he bring to today's game? "I hope Ben doesn't bring a whole lot, actually," Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said. "I told our guys, 'He's playing like a huge Doug Flutie.' He's making guys miss him in the pocket and he's making real positive plays. He's playing really well." The Steelers' one-two punch of tailbacks Willie Parker and Najeh Davenport presents a formidable challenge for the Bengals' 27th-ranked run defense. Parker (600 yards) is a sleek, fast, cut-back runner, while Davenport (215 yards) is a tank. "(Parker) is special," Lewis said. "He can make a guy miss, and he can bounce and get outside of leverage very, very quickly. |

I only get excited three days a year; Columbus Day, Halloween and Bengals-Steelers Sundays. I can only thank Vince Lombardi that I will be celebrating two of those days on Sunday. For one minute, we’re going to forget that the Colts and Patriots are as unstoppable as California wildfires. We’re also going to not talk about how the Dolphins-Giants game in London is a worse idea then Trojan selling condoms with holes in them to vindictive ex-girlfriends. This week’s rankings are going to completely focus on how badly the Bengals are going to mistreat Pittsburgh. If the Steelers are terrorists, then the Bengals are Jack Bauer. Let the torture ensue. NFC 1. Dallas Cowboys- A little over ten years ago, the Cowboys vanquished the Steelers in a Super Bowl that still makes me smile. This means that if the Cowboys were playing this weekend, I would pick them to win by 54, sadly, they have a bye. |

While Bengals linebacker David Pollack rehabs from a potentially career-ending neck injury, he's moonlighting as a college football analyst for CSTV. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution caught up with Pollack, who will be at Alltell Stadium in Jacksonville for the Georgia-Florida game on Saturday. Pollack was noncommittal about his NFL future. "I just went to the doctor (Thursday)," Pollack told the AJC. "I'm continuing to rehab and continuing to see how my neck feels. It's still a process that's going to take awhile. I had surgery in January and it's a year, year-and-a-half process for everything to heal up. So I'm just sitting back and waiting and letting God take the reins and see where He takes me." So the door to playing again is neither open nor shut? "Not at the moment," Pollack said. "It's kind of cracked. It opens a little and then the wind will blow. It closed a little bit and then it cracks open again. It goes back and forth." Chad misses practice: Wide receiver Chad Johnson did not practice Thursday because of lingering soreness from a sprained ankle. Also not practicing were tailback Rudi Johnson (hamstring), wide receiver Antonio Chatman (hamstring) and linebacker Caleb Miller (back). Left offensive tackle Willie Anderson (knee) and middle linebacker Ahmad Brooks (groin) are out. |
